Ron and Freda Fancher were married Sunday, Aug. 12, 1962, in West Kill. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends on Sunday, Aug. 12, at an open house held at their home in Greenville, hosted by their daughters, Pam and Rhonda.
Freda and Ron hail from the mountaintop, growing up in West Kill and Conesville, respectively.
Freda is the daughter of Fred and Emma (Simmons) Howard and Ronald is the son of Jesse and Mabel (Puffer) Fancher.
The couple has two children, Pamela Fancher of South Cairo, and Rhonda (Fancher) Margiasso of South Cairo; and five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Ron is a graduate of Gilboa-Conesville Central School. He retired with 30 years of service with the federal government Meat Inspection division.
Freda is a graduate of Hunter-Tannersville Central School and Mildred Ellie Business School of Albany. Freda retired after 30 years of civil service while working for the Greenville Central School District in the capacity of secretarial positions retiring as the Middle School Secretary.
The 50th anniversary celebration began with an elaborate open house providing a hot and cold buffet including an open bar. More than 130 family and friends were in attendance to join their daughters Pam and Rhonda for this seven-plus-hour event.
