Lloyd and Helen Elwood of Bainbridge recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a family dinner held at their home.
They were married on April 10, 1953, in Angola, Ind.
Helen is the daughter of the late John and Emma Atchison Freed and graduated from high school in Kendallville, Ind. She worked for the First National Bank in Sidney and later at the NBT office in Bainbridge. She retired from the Cullman Center in Sidney.
Lloyd is the son of the late Ramon and Marjorie Sines Elwood of Walton and graduated from Walton High School in 1946. He served in the Occupation Army in Japan and is a graduate of Tri State College in Angola, Ind. Returning to New York he pursued a career in electrical engineering and worked for a number of area companies including Bendix in Sidney and Liquidometer and Lewis Engineering, both of Norwich. Lloyd was employed by the Grumman Corp. at the time of his retirement.
The Elwoods have a son, Michael of Huntington, Long Island, and a granddaughter, Jaclyn of Bradenton, Fla. A second son, Daniel of Norwich, died in 2007.
