---- — The Catskill Puppet Theater will present two matinee performances of “The Lion’s Whiskers” at 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday at Goodrich Theater in SUNY Oneonta’s Fine Arts Building.

The Catskill Puppet Theater is a locally based theater group that regularly tours nationally. Founded by Laurens couple Carol Mandigo and John Potocnik, the group incorporates music, elaborate sets and puppet characters in its shows, a media release said.

The company regularly performs in grade-school setting and theaters. The educational subject matter of its programs is often of historic or cultural significance, the release said.

“The Lion’s Whiskers” is a classic Ethiopian folktale. The show will include unique lighting and shadow play, as well as puppets constructed at three-quarter life-size scale to giant size.

The show most recently played at the New York City and Philadelphia public libraries. Last year, it was performed at the Smithsonian Museum.

Tickets are $6 each and will be available at the door. Children 4 years old and under will be admitted free.

Following the show, audience members can ask the performers questions and see how the puppets work.
