Hartwick College will host pop-punk group We the Kings at 8 p.m. Saturday in Lambros Arena on the school’s Oneonta campus.
The Florida group’s first self-titled album was released in 2007 and included the hit “Check Yes, Juliet,” a media release said. The song went platinum and sold more than 250,000 in the United States.
In 2009, the band’s next album, “Smile Kid,” featured the Top 40 singles “We’ll Be A Dream,” performed with Demi Lovato, and “Heaven Can Wait.” Last year, the group released “Sunshine State of Mind.”
We the Kings has performed across the world and throughout the United States, having just completed a world tour with Canadian band Simple Plan. It also performed as a main stage headliner on the Vans Warped Tour.
To date, the group has won MTV Video Music Award’s Best New Artist and Rock on Request Award’s Best Pop-Punk Artist in 2008. In 2012, O Music also awarded the band its Most Innovative Music Video Award.
The group features Travis Clark on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Hunter Thomsen on lead guitar and backing vocals; Danny Duncan on drums; Charles Trippy on bass; and Coley O’Toole on piano backing vocals and guitar.
