---- — Greater Maywood Rural Community Services will present Kaitlyn Jackson’s Country Music Show at 7 p.m. Saturday at the former Sidney Center School Building on county Route 23 in Sidney Center.
Jackson was a recent winner of the “American Idol Experience” at Disney’s Hollywood Studio near Orlando, Fla. She also was honored with the 2011 Horizon Award by the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame.
She has opened for country artists such as Joe Nichols, Josh Gracin, Bryan White, Andy Griggs, Mark Wills, Jeff Bates, Trent Willmon and Emerson Drive. In the pop arena, she’s opened for Melinda Doolittle, the Veronicas and many others. She also sand with Kenny Rogers and Linda Davis during Roger’s television Christmas show.
In Nashville, she’s worked with Trisha Yearwood and George Strait, as well as songwriters CJ Watson, David Harper, Brandon Maddox, Max Abrams and Dave Tough.
Locally, she was a member of the touring musical theater group Musical Kids on the Go. She’s played lead roles in “101 Dalmatians,” “High School Musical” “Annie,” “Oliver” The Sound of Music” and more.
In addition to singing, Jackson has been dancing since she was 2 years old, and has one American Dance Awards in lyrical and modern dance. In 2011, she performed on Broadway and joined the Phoenix Project Dance professional dance company.
