Halloween events galore this weekend

---- — The Oneonta area will host a variety of entertainment events this weekend in celebration of Halloween. These events include:

There will be a Halloween Hop from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Asa Allison Municipal Building at 4 Academy St. in Oneonta.

The event will include music by DJ Tom King and optional costumes. Additional parking is available at 35 Academy St., and admission is $2. For more information, call 432-8595 or go to www.arcotsego.org.

Also, tonight at 7, Franklin Stage Company, at 25 Institute Street in Franklin, will host a free screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” as part of the Thrills and Chills theme for October. The series continues at 7 p.m. Saturday with “Psycho.”

Saturday brings Halloween Murder Mystery Dinner Theater to the Oneonta Elks Club — at 84 Chestnut St. — starting at 6:30 p.m. The mystery of the night, presented by Orpheus Theatre, is “Murder at the Midnight Hour.” Guests are invited to play a role in the wedding of Jewel Opal Hogget and Roger Quinton Windsor on Oct. 27, 1969. There will be murders, mystery and mayhem as hippies and wealthy invitees mix. Guests will interact with potential killers or victims.

Also Saturday, the Empire House, located at 32 Marion Ave. in Gilbertsville, will host a gypsy Halloween Party at 8:30 p.m. The night will feature tarot card readings for $2, Halloween and dance music, costume contests and more. For more details, call 783-2859 or email theempirehouse@yahoo.com.

O’Neill’s Shire Pub at 123 Main St. in Delhi will present a Halloween Bash starting at 9:30 p.m. Costumes are optional, and prizes will be awarded for funniest, best couple, sexiest and scariest.

And at 110 Main St. in Andes, the Andes Hotel will host a Zombie Farm Halloween Bash at 9 p.m. The free event, for those 21 and older, will include costume contests for best couple, most original and best zombie farm costume, DJ, dancing, pumpkin-carving contests and more.
