---- — The Earlville Opera House will showcase the French Celtic music of Genticorum at 8 p.m. Saturday.
According to a media release, Genticorum “takes the tradition and weaves precise and intricate fiddle and flute work, gorgeous vocal harmonies, energetic foot percussion and guitar and bass into a ‘big and jubilant musical feast.’” The band won Traditional Album of the Year and Ensemble of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award, and its 2008 album, “La Bibournoise,” won Traditional Album of the Year.
Genticorum is touring in support of its May release, “Enregistre,” which translates in English “to put down” or “to record.” The band combines old tunes from its native Quebec as well as writing new tunes in the Quebecois tradition.
The concert will feature a promotion for members, in which EOH members can bring up to two guests at no charge. General admission tickets are $18 for the public and $16 for members. Student tickets are $13. Premium seating is an additional $5. The theater is wheelchair-accessible. For information or reservations, call (315) 691-3550 or visit www.earlvilleoperahouse.com.
