The Cooperstown Art Association will host a community-wide opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
It will mark the start of three shows: “Essential Art, the 22nd Annual Regional Juried Art Show”; “At the Water’s Edge,” paintings by Sandra Dovberg; and the Cooperstown Central School Art Exhibit. There will be music by Norman Dovberg, wine and food made by community members.
“Essential Art” is a juried show of New York artists. The jurors this year are Kristen Henderson, director of the Cherry Branch Gallery, and Alice Brewton Hurwitz of Cherry Valley. “Essential Art” will be on display through May 31 in Gallery A.
“At the Water’s Edge” presents abstracted aquatic environments in a variety of mediums. Dovberg combines elements of abstraction with representational subjects to convey a sense of renewal and relaxation, according to a media release from CAA. This show will be on display through May 31 in Gallery B.
The tradition of the Cooperstown Central School Art Exhibit will continue at the annual show that will fill the upstairs ballroom gallery through May 29.
Admission to the Cooperstown Art Association is free. The CAA galleries are at the 22 Main St. building on the corner of Main and Fair streets. The Gallery is open Mondays and Wednesday through Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed Tuesdays through Memorial Day.
