6 On The Square will welcome Spuyten Duyvil to the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. This group performs a fusion of bits of traditional country, bluegrass, folk, string band and more to create unique, raucous roots music.
Hailing from Yonkers to be exact, Spuyten Duyvil (pronounced: spite-en dive-el meaning spitting devil in Dutch) draws on influences from the 1970s on forward, from outlaw country to newgrass to folk-pop.
Tickets for the acoustic ensemble are $15, plus a $2 service charge, until the date of the performance, $18 at the door. Ticket price for students younger than 18 is $2, but reservations are needed
The exhibit of photography by Oxford artist Dan Tefft will run through March 8.
In addition, tickets are on sale now for two 6OTS raffles. One is for an autographed quilt. This quilted wall-hanging has been signed by a year’s worth of 6OTS performers; the singer-songwriting-musicians will continue to autograph the quilt until the drawing. These tickets are $2 each or an arm’s length for $20.
The second raffle is for a 50/50, with tickets $10 each. Two hundred tickets were printed, so the first-place winner could win up to $1,000. There will be a second prize of a tote filled with 25 CDs. These drawings will be held at the Anniversary Show on June 21. All raffle proceeds support programming at 6OTS.
Future performances: Brooks Williams on March 8 and Ronny Cox on March 21, both at 7:30 p.m. Doors open one hour before show time. A coffee tasting fundraiser on March 30 will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
