Oneonta’s Catskill Chamber Singers will present their annual Christmas concert “Run, Toboggan, Run — American Songs of the Season” at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church at 296 Main St. in Oneonta.
The program will include traditional holiday songs, as well as an 18th-century psalm from William Billings, a Huron Native American carol, and two American spirituals, “I Believe This Is Jesus” and “If Anybody Ask You Who I Am.”
The Singers will also offer the contemporary “It’s Christmas In My Hometown,” written for the Singers by former Oneontan William Westcott, and the Appalachian folk carol “Jesus the Christ is Born,” arranged by Catskill Chamber Singers member H. Laverne Thomas.
The Catskill Chamber Singers, based in Oneonta, is an a cappella chorus of 15 members from Oneonta and nearby communities, affiliated with the Catskill Choral Society. They are self-directed, and perform several concerts a year, singing music from the 14th century to the present, from classical to modern.
