---- — Library displaying local artwork

The Sidney Memorial Library is displaying the artwork of local artist Linda Kamrowski in the Smart Community Room this month.

Kamrowski is a self-taught artist from Rockdale-Mount Upton area. According to a media release, she learned the art of oil painting from books borrowed from the Sidney Library and the Four County Library System.

Doc Weismore Band to play at dance

The Tri-County Social & Dance Club will host the Doc Weismore Band from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The dance will be held at the Oneonta Moose Club at 87 West Broadway. 

The dance is open to all ages 18 and older. Refreshments will be available. 


Ceili performance set at CAA

The Cooperstown Art Association will host an Irish dance performance by the Iona Troupe of Schoharie County and Cooperstown at 7 p.m. today in the upstairs ballroom gallery.  Refreshments will be served. Tickets, at $10 for adults $10, $5 for those 8 to 17, and free for those younger than 7, will be available at the door.

The Cooperstown Art Association’s Holiday Show & Sale will be open for shopping before and after the performance.

Open mic set at the Gallery

The Gallery in Stamford’s “Second Saturdays” open mic/open stage jam for December will be from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The Gallery offers a grand piano concert hall that includes an in house drum kit, grand piano, two sets of congas and a  sound system.

Attendees will be charged a $5 donation. Performers are not charged. Those who wish may bring food or drink to share.

‘A Christmas Carol’ to be performed

The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown will present two Glimmer Globe Theatre performances of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday in the Louis C. Jones Center at The Farmers’ Museum.  

The production will feature Gary Koutnik, Michael Henrici, Steve Dillon, Abbey Koutnik, Don Raddatz, Danielle Newell, Susan and Frank Miosek, Andy Puritz, Jake Wansor, Penny Knight, Andrea Wilfeard, Mike Davis, Jonah Groom, Cate Thompson, Montana Murdock, Joey Bertram and Anna Lambert.

Community Christmas Carol

The 40th Annual Community Christmas Carol will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church at 66 Chestnut St. in Oneonta. The concert will feature the Handbell choirs of First United Methodist Church and Oneonta High School Brass Ensemble under the direction of John Jurgensen; the Pathfinder Village Ringers under the direction of Paula Schaeffer; vocal soloists Mary-Anne Ross and Fr. David Mickiewicz; the a capella ensemble Syncopation; and carols sung by the community.

Holiday tea set at Earlville Opera

The annual Earlville Opera House holiday tea will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event will include cucumber sandwiches, home-baked cookies and cakes served on antique dishes in the Arts Café, along with English tea.

The cost of $15 per person ($13 for members) supports free arts programs for youths and scholarships to EOH workshops for kids.

Mural on Main to have closing party

The Mural on Main Art Gallery will host a Closing Party for the 2013 season from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Attendees will have a chance to see “The Community Art Show,” which has been up since the beginning of November. More than 30 pieces of work from people of all ages and artistic experience are on display.

The gallery is at 631 Main St. in Hobart. It will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and will close after the party and reopen in the spring.

Gallery celebration set in Andes

The Chace-Randall Gallery will host a holiday celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, featuring local cheese, Italian wine, crostinis, holiday music and the gallery’s close-of-season group exhibition.
