---- — “Come Dance With Me,” a tune associated with Frank Sinatra, is the title song and invitation from the members of Sing a Song of Broadway & Co. on this New Year’s Eve. As a part of First Night festivities, the Oneonta-based theater group will present a dance and concert based on Broadway tunes and some songs from the movies. The event will happen in the Fellowship Hall at the First United Methodist Church.
First Night celebrants are invited to kick up their heels and dance to beats that include swing, waltz, tango, polka, cha-cha and early rock ‘n’ roll. The New Year’s Eve dance band members are Greg Langdon on saxophone, Tim Iversen on grand piano, Tom Ives on stand-up bass and Joe Tokarowski on percussion. Vocalists for the evening are Avalon McCaslin-Doyle of the State University College at Oneonta, Greg Hunter of Hartwick College, Xandry Langdon of Ithaca College, Estefan Bonilla of Community Christian School, Joshua Baker of SUNY Oneonta, Megan Robbins, and event organizer Jeanne Langdon.
The dance/concert sets will begin at 7, 8 and 9 with different songs during each set. First Night guests are welcome to come and go at anytime throughout the evening. Boots and parkas as well as evening dress clothes are all appropriate attire, organizers said in a media release. Seating space will be provided at “Come Dance With Me” for those who wish to listen. Humphrey’s Gourmet to Go will offer food and beverages for sale.
First Night buttons are necessary for admission to the Sing a Song of Broadway event and to any of the First Night venues. They are on sale for $15 at many Oneonta locations, including Theresa’s Emporium, Humphrey’s Gourmet To Go and The Green Toad.
