---- — Six regional bands will perform at an all-day music festival in Andes on Memorial Day Weekend as a tribute to their late friend and supporter, radio host Terry Doyle.
The event, dubbed “Doylestock,” will be held outdoors Sunday, May 26, at the Andes Hotel Summer Shack at 110 Main St. in Andes.
Bands will perform from 2 to 8 p.m. The Doylestock lineup features Heaven’s Back Door, The Honest Mistakes, The Blues Maneuver, George Kilby Jr. and the Road Dogs, Just Throw Money and Esquela. Disc jockey Patrick del Rosario will host.
The bands will perform 50-minute sets at the top of each hour, with Esquela featured in the close-down set at 7 p.m.
Admission to the rain-or-shine event is $10.
Food and beverages will be available for sale. The event will feature raffle prizes donated from local businesses and two 50/50 drawings.
All proceeds will be donated to the newly established Terry Doyle Fund for Young Musicians, which will be used to support performances by fledgling artists from throughout the region. The fund is being administered by First Night Oneonta Inc., a charitable arts organization.
Donations, which are tax-deductible, can be sent to the Doyle Fund in care of First Night, P.O. Box 101, Oneonta, NY 13820.
Doyle died of heart failure in February at age 46. He was a longtime newsman and host with radio stations in Delaware County.
He was passionate about live local music, and he created radio programs — including “Imprint” and “Crackle” — to promote the work of musicians he admired. For his last 2½ years, Doyle’s shows originated from WIOX in Roxbury, and his work was broadcast on radio stations in the Finger Lakes and Hudson Valley.
