Exhibit, gallery to open at CAA
The Cooperstown Art Association is announce the opening reception of an exhibit and the re-opening of the Artist Sales Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
“An Artistic Discovery” is a high school art competition held within the 19th Congressional District by county. Six students will receive ribbons for their work at the CAA and a digital image of their artwork will then be submitted to Congressman Chris Gibson’s office for final selection in the next phase of competition. From there one student’s work will go on to be displayed in the corridor leading to the US Capitol Building along with other high-school artists’ work from across the country. The exhibit, which is sponsored by Friends of Music and Art, a music and art support group in the Cooperstown Central School District, will be on display in Gallery A through March 28.
The ongoing sales gallery features a variety of original work by local and regional member artists. Jewelry, ceramics, fiber and more will be available through November.
The Cooperstown Art Association galleries are at 22 Main St. in the village building on the corner of Main and Fair streets in Cooperstown. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Call 547-9777 or visit www.cooperstownart.com for more information.
CANO announces members exhibition
The Community Arts Network of Oneonta announced the opening reception for its first show of the year, the 2014 Members Exhibition, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wilber Mansion in Oneonta. The public is invited to attend. Regular hours at the gallery, at 11 Ford Ave., are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays and by appointment.
