Irish singer to perform at 6OTS

6 On The Square will welcome back Seamus Kennedy at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Kennedy  has been entertaining audiences all over the United States for almost 40 years. He has received the WAMA distinction of “Best Irish/Celtic Male Vocalist” from 1993 to 2006.

Tickets are available online for $20, plus a $2 service fee, until the day of the show, or $25 at the door. Ticket price for students is always $2, but reservation are needed. The art of Katie Thomas is on display through May 31.

In addition, tickets are on sale for two 6OTS raffles. One is for an autographed quilt wall-hanging signed by the past year’s performers. The tickets are $2 each or an arm’s length for $20.

The second raffle is for a 50/50, and these tickets are $10 each. Only 200 tickets were printed, so the first place winner could win up to $1,000. There will be a second prize of a tote filled with 25 CDs. These drawings will be held at the Anniversary Show on June 21. All raffle proceeds support programming at 6OTS.

The next open mic night is April 17, and every third Thursday of each month, at 7:30 p.m. Performers and listeners are welcome to the free event.

Upcoming performances include Cheryl Wheeler on April 26, Marjorie Thompson on May 3, and Brian Ashley Jones on May 31. All shows start at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening an hour before show time. For more information, call (607) 843-OTS6 or visit www.6onthesquare.org.

The 6 On The Square Inc Annual Board Meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29. The past year will be reviewed; new board of directors members will be elected as well as officers. The meeting is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
