Film series to feature ‘Toy Story 3’

The ninth annual Cabin Fever Film Series continues at 7 p.m. today with “Toy Story 3”at at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Grandstand Theater at 25 Main St. in Cooperstown.

The third film in the “Toy Story” series sees Woody, Buzz and other toys head to day care while their owner Andy prepares for college.

The series, which is free, continues with “Meeting Venus,” on Jan. 25 at the Fenimore Art Museum at 5798 State Route 80 in Cooperstown, “Groundhog Day” on Feb. 1 at the Fenimore and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” on Feb. 8 at the Hall.

Double act

set in Andes

The Andes Hotel at 110 Main St. in Andes will feature a double bill starting at 6 p.m.

First up will be Pre-war Ponies from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Yellow Room with songs from the 1920s and 1930s. According to a media release, the group likes to dig through old recordings and sheet music for songs such as “The Gentleman Just Wouldn’t Say Goodnight,” “Pettin’ In The Park” and “Pardon My Southern Accent.”

From 9 to midnight will be the Jack Grace Band in the Tavern. Grace’s music was called “gritty down home country the way it should be” and “one of the (New York) city’s most skilled and personable country stars” by Time Out New York.

Smithy to hold auditions for readings

The Smithy will host auditions for two play readings from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at 43 Pioneer St. in Cooperstown. “Much Ado About Nothing” will be performed at 4 p.m. Feb. 9, and “Inherit the Wind” will be done at 7 p.m. Feb. 23.

Men and women of all ages are sought for both shows. “Much Ado About Nothing” is a Shakespearean comedy that explores the thin line between love and hate, while “Inherit the Wind” focuses on the real-life Scopes Monkey Trial.
