---- — Folk trio Brother Sun will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at 6 On The Square, located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. The show will benefit the Philanthropic Educational Organization.
According to media release, “the three rich voices weave a tapestry of harmony that is brilliantly fresh.”
The nationally touring artists are from three major points on a U.S. map — Greg Greenway of Boston, Pat Wictor of New York City and Joe Jencks of Chicago.
“The harmonies and lyrics sung by Pat, Greg and Joe celebrate the amazing power of singing together, and their music is warm as a campfire, stirring as a gospel church and rousing as a call to arms,” the release said.
The group blends folk, Americana, blues, pop, jazz, rock and a cappella singing.
The Philanthropic Educational Program began in 1869 and now includes nearly 250,000 women with a history of benevolence and involvement. The PEO contributes to the women’s organizations through scholarships.
Tickets are $20 in advance and at the door. For more information, call 843-6876 or visit www.6onthesquare.org.
Also at 6OTS through Jan. 27 are the wildlife paintings of Norwich artist Johanna Lerwick.
