SUCO group to

present two plays@Brief Box Header:

The Mask and Hammer Theater Club will present “The Cuban Swimmer” and “Dog Lady” at 8 p.m. today and Saturday, as well as at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hamblin Theatre of the Fine Arts Building on the SUNY Oneonta campus.

“The Cuban Swimmer” deals with Hispanic-Americans using athletic skills to propel themselves into the mainstream of middle-class life. A young female endurance swimmer looks to race from San Pedro to Catalina Island.

“Dog Lady” focuses on a young Hispanic woman training for a marathon sponsored by a local church in a Los Angeles barrio.

Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for those with a valid student ID. For more details, go to http://tickets.oneonta.edu.

RAG to host radio

The Roxbury Arts Group, along with Friends of Freddy — a group that celebrates the former Roxbury resident Walter F. Brooks — will host the radio play “The Clockwork Twin” at 4 p.m. Saturday.

According to a media release, the play has elements of “Huckleberry Finn,” science fiction and comic books, along with talking animals and adventure. The show is appropriate for all ages.

The show is free, with donations accepted, at 5025 Vega Mountain Road in Roxbury. For more information, call 326-7908.

Circus focus of Bainbridge exhibition

An exhibition of circus memorabilia will be featured Saturday at the Town Hall Gallery on Main Street in Bainbridge. Showings are from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.

Floral and event designer Nancy Kitchen and Ian Tonnessen of Bainbridge will share items taken from 15 years of producing event for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. These items include life-size cardboard cutouts of circus starts, action photographs and props.

At 2 p.m., Kitchen will speak about her experiences behind the scenes at the circus.
