Local artists to have open studios

Five West Winfield area artists, including two painters, two potters and a sculptress whose life-size work has graced the Glimmerglass Festival’s front lawn in Cooperstown, invite the public to tour their private work spaces from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The 2013 Artist Studio Tour, sponsored by the nonprofit Upper Unadilla Valley Association, will give visitors an opportunity to talk with the artists and view their work. Some artists also will demonstrate their techniques and sell their artwork.

Admission is $5 per person, with children younger than 12 admitted free. The cost includes entry to all five locations. Tickets are in the form of informational booklets, with maps and GPS addresses included. These may be purchased in advance from Davis Hardware on South Street in West Winfield.

On the day of the tour, the ticket-booklets will be available only at studio tour location 6949 County Highway 18 in Unadilla Forks. Tour sites will be marked with roadside “Tour Today” signs.

The following artists will be featured:

Sculptress Beth Schoonmaker, 377 South Road, West Winfield.

Painters Patty Purcell and Martha Murphy, 6949 County Highway 18, Unadilla Forks.

Potter Jim Burke, 937 Millers Mills Road, West Winfield.

Potter Kylie Spooner, 5954 Coounty Highway 18, Edmeston.

For more information, call Larraine McNulty, Upper Unadilla Valley Association president, at (315) 855-4368.
