Baroque to be highlighted

The Oneonta Concert Association will present early music ensemble Chatham Baroque two times today at the Oneonta Theatre at 47 Chestnut St. in Oneonta.

The trio of baroque violin, viola da gamba, theorbo and baroque guitar tours nationally and internationally, and has recorded eight albums.

At 10:30 a.m. today, Chatham Baroque will offer and hourlong public preview of the night’s program. Admission to the shorter morning program is $3. The performance at 7:30 p.m. will feature eight artists performing song and dance from 17th and 18th century Spain and Italy.

‘As You Like It’ runs through Sunday

The SUNY Oneonta Theater Department will perform the Shakespearean comedy “As You Like It” at 8 p.m. today and Friday, as well as at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hamblin Theater in the SUNY Oneonta Fine Arts Building.

The show focuses on Rosalind fleeing persecution in her uncle’s court accompanied by her cousin Celia and Touchstone the court jester into the Forest of Arden.

Actors sought for ‘Legally Blonde’

Orpheus Theatre will hold auditions for “Legally Blonde,” the musical based on the hit movie of the same name starting Reese Witherspoon. Tryouts will be at 11 a.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday at Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center at 24 Market St. in Oneonta.

Sorority sister Elle Woods refuses to take no for an answer when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her. She follows him to Harvard Law School and realizes she can seek her destiny on her own terms.
