---- — The Hewitt Pantaleoni Memorial Concert Series will present a fully staged performance of Francis Poulenc’s one-act, one-character opera “La Voix Humaine” (“The Human Voice”) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room M201 of the Hartwick College Fine Arts Center.
Soprano Barbara Paterson will star in the show, focused on one woman on stage speaking on the telephone with her departing lover (never seen), who is leaving to marry another woman.
Paterson is an area native, who has performed with the Catskill Symphony, Catskill Choral Society and Symphony Orchestras of Utica and Schenectady. Joining her for the show on piano will be her father, Kim Paterson, a SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick faculty member.
After spending her high school years at Delaware Academy Central School in Delhi, Paterson graduated with honors from the Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College. She earned a master’s degree in voice from Westminster Choir College in New Jersey after co-founding and directing a small, experimental chamber opera company in several years.
The performance is free and open to the public, and is presented by Hartwick and the Catskill Conservatory. For more information, call 436-3419.
