The Jericho Arts Council will host a show by photographer/artist JoAnn Bertone Chmielowski at its Town Hall Gallery on the night of Sept. 8. The artist’s nature photographs are set off by hand-crafted frames made by Chmielowski herself.
Chmielowski says, “Through use of unusual perspectives, and macro-photography, my subjects and frames themselves invite you in for yet an even closer look. I carve and etch patterns from nature into my frames, and also use color to enhance the photography. Many photos were taken in the woods surrounding the city of Oneonta, NY, as well as framed in cherry, pine and basswood, all produced locally. The framing captures both a traditional, yet magical feeling, and the woodwork is of high quality. I also do unique framing in these woods and patterns for any art or photographs you wish to have framed.”

This one-night-only show is scheduled to coincide with the performance of Party of Two in the Town Hall Theater. Chmielowski is also one of the Party of Two musical performers. This group will be performing music from songwriters of the
’60s and ’
70s, including Neil Diamond, Karen Carpenter, and many others.
The gallery, located on the second floor of the Town Hall Building on Main Street in Bainbridge, will open around 7 p.m. and remain open throughout the evening. Admission to the gallery is free.
