Senior Class to present play
Morris Central School’s Class of 2014 will present “School for Nerds” as its senior play at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the high school auditorium. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
CAA to have holiday show, sale
The Cooperstown Art Association’s Holiday Show & Sale will kick off with a public opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, and will feature the musical offerings of “Ah Coopella.” On display through Dec. 23, work in the show is geared toward holiday gift giving. All work featured is by member artists, many of them local and regional.
Artist must deliver their works between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. today or Saturday.
The CAA is at 22 Main St. in the Village Building on the corner of Main and Fair streets in Cooperstown. The Gallery is open between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. It will be closed Nov. 28 for Thanksgiving and Dec. 24 to 28 for the holidays. Auditions for ‘Sound of Music’ set
The Out of the Woodwork Players will hold auditions for “The Sound of Music” on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Bainbridge Town Hall Theatre at 15 N. Main St. in Bainbridge.
“The Sound of Music” with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers,” by Maria Augusta Trapp, will be presented April 4, 5 and 6.
Roles are available for adults, teens and children, with principals including three women, two men, girls ages 5, 7, 9, 13, 16 and boys ages 11 and 14. The telegram delivery boy, Rolf Gruber, is 17. Captain von Trapp’s household, when Maria Rainer comes as governess from the convent, includes the butler, housekeeper and maid. Max Detweiler and Elsa Schraeder are his associates. The Mother Abbess oversees nuns, novices and postulants at the convent. Other roles include neighbors, officers and festival contestants.
