Jazz band reunion concert planned

A special band production by the Cooperstown High School Jazz Band will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Lakefront Park in Cooperstown. The Jazz Band reunion will be showcased on the historic bandstand with Otsego Lake as its back drop. 

The Cooperstown Central High School Reunion Jazz Band is composed of musicians from 1975 up to today’s graduating alumni with special guest conductor Dan Martin, director of music at Laurens Central School. There will also be appearances by past CCHS band directors as well.

Cooperstown concert series to continue

On Tuesday, the Cooperstown Lakefront Concert Series will continue for its ninth season in scenic Lakefront Park. New Horizons Barbershop Chorus & Full Circle Quartet will sing a cappella music in a barbershop style.

The Village Parks Commission will host the venue for six more performances. Area bands and soloists will perform a wide genre of music. The family-oriented concerts are showcased on the historic bandstand each Tuesday in July and August at 7 p.m. 

Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket for the free show.

Smyrna Citizens Band to perform

Sherburne Rotary Club will brings Smyrna Citizens Band to Gaines Park on Wednesday for its 95th Music in the Park summer concert series. 

Concerts begin at 6 p.m. and end by 8:30 p.m. The series will continue through Aug. 7. Food is available from the Rotary food booth. 

Attendees should bring their own chair or blanket.  Money raised is used to fund local projects and causes. The 50/50 raffle at each concert is split between the winner that night and three local food pantries. 

Open mic set at Blue Deer Center

Blue Deer Center will have continue its monthly open mic in the Yurt from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Open mics are held the fourth Thursday of each month.

Admission is free.
