‘Art in Bloom’ show to open today

The Oneonta Federated Garden Club will present the 0th annual Art in Bloom show today at the Community Arts Network of Oneonta. A reception, with refreshments, will open the show from 5 to 7 p.m. 

Garden Club members have selected works of art to display at the CANO Gallery, and created floral arrangements to compliment the works. Visitors can cast ballots for the best arrangement. A Popular Choice award will be presented to the top vote-getter. 

The show will also be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The CANO Gallery is in the Wilber Mansion at 11 Ford Ave. in Oneotna. For information, call 432-9273 or email lauriezimniewicz@gmail.com. 

 

Opera House hosts ‘The Music Room’

The Earlville Opera House will host performances of “The Music Room” by Hugh C. Humphreys at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The one-act play, set in Utica, is narrated by Humphreys and features performances by vocalists Jenni Larchar and Meena Nair Conant. The program will also feature “The Other Stories,” a collection of music, drama and poetry presented by local performances.

‘Mikado’ auditions to be Sunday

Auditions for an August production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s musical “The Mikado” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Earlville Opera House. The cast will be chosen by Monday, with rehearsals to begin Tuesday. Those who audition are asked to prepare a brief solo to sing demonstrating vocal range. Those who choose a piece that is not from “The Mikado” are asked to bring sheet music for the pianist.
