---- — Oxford’s 6 On The Square will host a free outdoor concert in LaFayette Park featuring duo Burns and Kristy at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Husband-and-wife team Ron Kristy and Terry Burns met in 2004 and brought their individual experiences as songwriters together to perform original folk and contemporary country music. Burns began her musical career in the Southern Tier in the mid-’80s, working with her sisters in The Burns Sisters band, who recorded three albums for Columbia Records. She went on to write hits for a variety of artists in Nashville, where she met Kristy. Kristy has been a TV and film composer for more than 25 years. Kristy’s music can be heard on shows such as “The Dog Whisperer”, 20/20, “Good Morning America,” “How I met Your Mother” and “Dancing With the Stars.” His music was also recently featured on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Burns and Kristy’s first CD together, the 12-track “Caravan,” debuted in 2012 at No. 10 on the Direct Airplay folk charts. “Blue Paper Boat” was a top-three finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards.
The couple’s music has been described as “Indie-folky-pop with a spiritual and whimsical attitude.” Accompanying them on the stage will be Rich DePaolo on guitar and bass, Janet Cotraccia on vocals and keyboard, and Bill King on drums/percussion.
