Artist to present lecture on land art

Nick Capasso, deputy director of the DeCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Mass., will present a lecture entitled “Understanding Land Art” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Anderson Center for the Arts Theater on the Hartwick College campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Since the later 1960s, many sculptors have engaged in dialogue with nature and its processes to create monumental works of land art, a media release said. Capasso will address this dialogue and artists associated with it, including Robert Smithson, Walter deMaria and Nancy Holt, as well as contemporary site-specific deCordova projects by Andy Goldsworthy and Alan Sonfist.

For more information, call Elizabeth Ayer at 431-4826 or email her at ayere@hartwick.edu.
