---- — Friends of Music will kick off its 27th season with a concert featuring young stars of the Metropolitan Opera. At 3 p.m. Sunday, four artists from the opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program will perform at the Cyr Center in Stamford.
Soprano Lei Xu, mezzosoprano Renée Tatum, bass-baritone Evan Hughes and pianist Bryan Wagorn will present the program.
Xu was a semifinalist in the 2012 Operalia Competition in Beijing, China. She has performed in “Le nozze di Figaro,” “La Rondine” and “Parsifal” this season at the Met.
Tatum’s Met credits this season include roles in “Otello” and “Das Rheingold,” as well as performing with the Ontario Society of New York, the Seattle Opera and the San Francisco Opera.
Hughes made his Met debut this season in “La Rondine,” performing as well in “Don Carlo” and a joint performance with The Julliard School of “Cosi fan tutte.”
Wagorn is a doctoral candidate at The Manhattan School of music who received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Ottawa and a master’s degree from the Mannes College of Music.
Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the concert. Parking is available at the Cyr Center, which is also handicapped-accessible. A suggested donation of $12 per person, or $6 for students and seniors, is requested. Children younger than 13 will be admitted free.
