Premier to close CSO season
Catskill Symphony Orchestra will present its final concert of the season, the Hans and Edith Wilk Memorial Concert, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the State University College at Oneonta Hunt Union Ballroom. The evening will include Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” and the East Coast premier of Edward Green’s “Music for Shakespeare.”
CSO presented Green’s music before when the orchestra performed his work, “Once Upon a time…”
CSO will welcome guest artists for the evening, as the concert will feature the SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College choirs, under the direction of Robert Barstow and Colin Armstrong, respectively.
Single tickets are $30. A donation allows has made free tickets are available for students and up to two adult chaperones per student order. ‘Reflections’ to open at MURAL
An opening reception for the self-portrait “Refelctions” exhibit will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at MURAL Gallery at 631 Main St. in Hobart. It is a collection of juried entries from people in the area, and will be on display through June 22. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and holiday Mondays.
Malkine to perform at library
Gilles Malkine will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Middleburgh library at 323 Main St.
Malkine, a Woodstock resident, has been performing for more than 45 years, including the 1969 Woodstock Festival, in which he played in Tim Hardin’s band. He acts and sings and plays guitar as well as violin, percussion, and other instruments, and has been in numerous theatrical and film productions with music and without. He is a composer and singer/songwriter/humorist in the folk genre, and a guitarist who accesses a wider scope of music.
