Blues-country singer to perform at 6OTS

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 6 On The Square will welcome back Brian Ashley Jones. Jones is a singer, guitarist and Americana songwriter whose compositions have been placed in film and television and recorded by a variety of other performing artists.

Jones’ songs find influence in the guitar-driven country, blues and bluegrass that he absorbed in his hometown of Spartanburg, S.C., according to a media release. Based in Nashville, Jones performs internationally at festivals and concert series and leads seminars for music education programs, music business conferences, and Nashville Songwriters Association International’s chapters around the USA.

His independent CD release, “Courier” made the Top 40 of the Roots Music Report, broke the Top 100 of the Americana Music Association’s album chart, and is receiving widespread commercial, college, public and international radio play.

Jones will be accompanied by bassist Geoff Henderson. He will also have advance copies of his CD, “Out of the City” with him. Purchase tickets online at the discounted price of $15 plus a $2 service fee, until the day of the show, or $18 at the door. Ticket price for students is $2. Call to make a reservation.

The art of Katie Thomas is on display. There will be an opening reception for the Oxford Student Art Show from 5 to 7 p.m. June 12.

Tickets are on sale for two 6OTS raffles. One is for an autographed quilt. This quilted wall-hanging has been signed by a year’s worth of 6OTS performers. The tickets are $2 each or an arm’s length for $20.

The second raffle is for a 50/50, and the tickets are $10 each. Two hundred tickets were printed, so the first place winner could win up to $1,000. There will be a second prize of a tote filled with 25 CDs. These drawings will be held at the seventh anniversary show with SONiA and disappear fear on June 21. All raffle proceeds support programming at 6OTS.

Upcoming performances include Don White at 7:30 p.m. June 14 and a free concert in Lafayette Park with The Burns and Kristy Band at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6. For more the information, call 843-OTS6 or visit

6OTS is at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford.
