Jazz quintet to play in Cherry Valley
Cherry Valley Artworks will present Brahja Waldman Jazz Quintet at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Star Theater at 44 Main St. in Cherry Valley, when the Montreal-based band will release its new album “Sir Real Live.” The group, which consists of Brahja Waldman on alto sax, Adam Kinner on tenor sax, Damon Shadrach Hankoff on piano, Martin Heslop on bass, and Daniel Gelinas on drums, has performed at The Montreal International Jazz Festival and venues throughout the Northeast.

Jimy Graham to be featured
Jamaican-born Jimy Graham will be the featured performer at The Cooperstown Blues Express on Saturday. Passengers will board at 6:30 p.m. at the Milford train depot with the three-hour train ride taking off at 7 p.m. According to a media release, Graham was heavily influenced by the Motown sound and Caribbean beats growing up in New York, and by age 8 he picked up a guitar. As a teenager he landed his first professional job, occupying the same space in Pickett’s band filled earlier by Jimi Hendrix. Graham portrayed Hendrix in the production of “Morrison: A Rock Opera” at the Hollywood Palace.
The ride will be along Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad with the featured band on an outdoor car. It will return to Milford around 10 p.m. Tickets are $18 per person. A full cash bar will be available. The trip is open to those 21 and older with valid identification.
Autumn to feature Frames as Art
“Frames as Art,” photography and frames of JoAnn Bertone Chmielowski will be featured at the Autumn Café from Monday through June 29.
There will be an artist reception at the cafe at 244 Main St. in Oneonta from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
