---- — Roots-rock party band Esquela will play its annual Thanksgiving Reunion Show at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Andes Hotel, at 110 Main St. in Andes.

This will be the group’s last public performance before heading to the studio to record a new album with New York City producer Eric “Roscoe” Ambel.

Ambel has produced and recorded with artists such as Ryan Adams, Robert Randolph, Steve Wynn, Marshall Crenshaw, Laura Cantrell, Mojo Nixon and The Bottle Rockets. In 2000, he became the lead guitarist for Steve Earle’s touring and recording band, The Dukes. Ambel also co-founded Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, The Del-Lords and The Yayhoos.

Esquela features regional performers Rebecca Frame on vocals, Brian Shafer on guitar, front-man/writer John “Chico” Finn and Todd Russell on drums and vocals. The band will perform as a six-piece group at Saturday’s show, with Matt Woodin joining in on guitar and mandolin and Ira McIntosh on guitar and vocals.

Esquela was co-founded by Keith Christopher, who co-writers the majority of the band’s material, although he is rarely able to perform with the band because of international obligations with his other band, Homemade Sin.

In addition to Esquela, Christopher has written for Ray Charles, Chris Knight, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Billy Joe Shaver and many others.

Saturday’s performance is free and open to the public for those 21 years old and older.
