The Martin-Mullen Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Building on the SUNY Oneonta campus will host "Voice! 8," starting with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
This is the eighth annual juried art exhibition of work by artists with intellectual and other developmental disabilities from across the state. Jurors this year are Jim Mullen, professor emeritus of humanities and fine arts at SUNY Oneonta and Thomas Sakoulas, SUNY Oneonta sculpture and computer art associate professor.
The show, presented by The Arc Otsego, will feature more than 70 works by 65 artists representing 19 counties in the state.
The exhibition addresses a variety of subjects through drawing, painting, sculpture, fabric arts, photography, collage and mixed media, a media release said.
New this year are three, exhibition-only collaborative works.
The exhibit cover piece is "Slice of Watermelon," a painting by Joshua Brooks, who studies art at Lexington Center in Fulton County.
Lynne Sessions, director of Community Relation at The Arc Otsego, said in the release that Brooks' work was chosen because it "captures the joy of summer and the exuberant spirit of 'Voice.'"
The show runs through Aug. 25. For more information, call 432-8595 or go to www.artotsego.org.
