---- — The Catskill Choral Society will present its spring concert, “Walk On Broadway,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta, and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m., at the Walton Theatre at 31 Gardiner Place in Walton.
The Catskill Choral Society, under the direction of Dr. G. Roberts Kolb, director of choral activities at Hamilton College, will take “a walk down Broadway” with hits by some of America’s most renowned songwriters, including Lerner & Loewe, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, and a British invasion from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, aided and abetted by a Frenchman, Claude-Michel Schönberg (Les Misérables).
Special guest artists Colby Thomas and Broadway baritone Kyle Gonyea will reprise their respective roles as “Christine” and the “Phantom,” both of who earned international acclaim in Phantom of the Opera in Germany.
Thomas joined the State University College at Oneonta Music Department in 2004, directing, and teaching voice, History of the American Musical, and vocal performance workshops that include coaching repertoire from opera to the contemporary musical.
Gonyea is on the faculty at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, and has maintained private voice studios in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Germany and New York City, as well as teaching master classes in voice at the University of California at Irvine’s New York City satellite program.
Advance tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, or $22 and $18 at the door, respectively. Admission for students is $12; children younger than 12 will be admitted free.
