Jazz ‘Project’ to perform Monday

The Hewitt Pantaleoni Memorial Concert Series at the State University College at Oneonta will continue Monday with a concert by the Jazz Composers & Improvisors Project. The program, sponsored by the Catskill Conservatory, in association with the college’s Music Department, and the Public Events Committee, will be held at 8 p.m., in The Little Theatre of Alumni Hall on the SUNY Oneonta campus. It is a free, walk-in event, open to all members of the community, without the need for tickets or reservations.

The Jazz Composers & Improvisors Project was created seven years ago by bassist/composer John Davey to bring together a range of jazz musician/composers throughout central New York, and to collaborate on each other’s music. This year’s concert brings together guitarist/composer Ken McGloin and percussionist/composer Dean Sharp, both from Kingston. Both McGloin and Sharp are featured on Davey’s soon-to-be released CD “Open Range.”
