Locally-born roots rock band Esquela will deliver its last scheduled performance for 2013 on Saturday at The Shire Pub at 123 Main St. in Delhi. Showtime will be 9:30 p.m., and there will be no cover charge.
Esquela released its sophomore album, “Are We Rolling?”, on June 20 at The Bowery Electric in New York City. According to a media release, “the independent-release has yielded an abundance of glowing reviews, and radio plays, from around the world, as well as new, foreign representation.” Esquela also recently recorded its first live album with engineer Andris Balins of Dryhill Studios in Oneonta, set to be released in the spring.
Esquela features the duo of vocalist Rebecca Frame and guitarist Brian Shafer, as well as front-man/co-writer John “Chico” Finn on bass and vocals, Matt Woodin on guitar and mandolin, and Todd Russell on drums and vocals. The band has shared the stage with artists like Deadstring Brothers, Whitey Morgan and the 78’s, Hellbound Glory, Marah, Steve Wynn, Jason Ringenberg, Dash Rip Rock and The New Heathens.
Esquela co-founder, industry veteran and “bassist to the stars” Keith Christopher co-wrote “Are We Rolling?” with Finn. The record was produced, recorded and mixed by Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, who has produced and recorded such artists as Ryan Adams, Robert Randolph, Steve Wynn, Marshall Crenshaw, Laura Cantrell, Marah, Mojo Nixon and The Bottle Rockets.
