The Roxbury Arts Group will host an opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday for “Mentor + Mentee,” an exhibit opening in the Walt Meade Gallery in the Roxbury Arts Center. The reception is free and open to the public, and offers an opportunity to meet the artists.
“Mentor + Mentee” explores this mutually nurturing relationship in various fine art mediums. The exhibit features the work of six mentor/mentee relationships — teacher and student, established artist and emerging artist, and even a group that calls itself The Creative Crones. According to a media release, “Tired of waiting for their muse, three artists — Elaine Grandy, Bonnie Mitchell and Linda Lariar — turned to each other and developed a mentor/mentee partnership.”
The mentor-mentee pairings in the exhibit are: Peter Yamaoka and Jessica Aaronson; Janice DeMarino and Amy Royal; The Creative Crones; Nat Thomas and Karen Butcher; Stephanie Rozene and Marge Gormley; and Jennifer Wentland and Chelsea Shultis, according to a media release.
‘Mentor + Mentee’ will be on exhibit in the Walt Meade Gallery in the Roxbury Arts Center through July 13. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and by appointment. For more information, visit www.roxburyartsgroup.org or call 326-7908.
