Workshop, concert set for UU church

Moira Smiley & VOCO, harmony singers that accompany themselves on cello, banjo, accordion and ukulele, will offer a vocal workshop at 2:30 p.m. and concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, at 12 Ford Ave. in Oneonta.

The events will be presented by the Catskill Chamber Singers, an Oneonta-based a cappella singing group.

VOCO is a vocal/instrumental trio specializing in original, folk, Eastern European and gospel music.

‘Sleep Hollow’ to be performed at radio play

The Carriage House at 76 Main St. in Stamford will host a performance of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as a radio play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The radio play, directed by Philip Potak, will include live sound effects and the undercurrent sounds of the Walla Walla chorus.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors; those 12 years old and younger are free. For more information, call 326-7908 or go to

Artist to read at Hanford Mills

Hanford Mills Museum will host a free reading by artist and poet Bertha Rogers at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Rogers created the exhibit “All the Good Dogs: Images & Words in Two and Three Dimensions” now on display at the museum through Oct. 14. The show conveys how dogs live in work in Delaware County through poems, paintings, illuminations and artist’s books and boxes.

Leashed dogs are welcome, a media release said.

SUCO to host night of Jewish music

The Hewitt Pantaleoni Memorial Concert Series will present its first concert of season, “Two Sides of Jewish Music — Folk and Art,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Sanford Auditorium (IRC Room No. 3) on the SUNY Oneonta campus.

The free concert will feature clarinetist Robin Seletsky and pianist Kim Paterson, as well as violinist Uli Speth, cellist Ben Whittenburg, flutist Ana-Laura Gonzalez and vocalist Johana Arnold.

The musicians will present selections from a traditional klezmer folk repertoire and several movements from Arnold Schoenberg “Pierrot Lunaire” (“Moonstruck Pierre”) For more details, call 436-3419.
