Auditions set for choral society program

Broadway music to be theme

Auditions will be held the first two Thursdays in February for interested singers to perform in the Catskill Choral Society’s spring concert, “Walk on Broadway.”

Auditions are open to all voice parts, but tenors and basses are in demand, according to a media release. Those who wish to audition are asked to call 431-6060 and select option #2.

CCS will perform a tribute to Broadway with Colby Thomas and Kyle Gonyea, conducted by interim Music Director Dr. G. Roberts Kolb, in May at the Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center and the historic Walton Theatre. Thomas will reprise the role of Christine in “Phantom of the Opera” with her partner, Broadway baritone Kyle Gonyea.

Kolb has a long history of directing and performing in acclaimed regional Broadway musicals. He is director of choral activities at Hamilton College and is conductor of the Hamilton College Masterworks Chorale, as well as past conductor of the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble and Cayuga Vocal Ensemble.
