Fantasy artist to display work

On Feb. 8, 6 On The Square will host an opening reception for local author and illustrator D. Michael Price from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit of original oil and acrylic paintings will open Thursday and run through March 24.

A graduate of the State University College at Oneonta, Price has published three books featuring his original illustrations: “Across the River” in 1995, “The Great Bee Race” in 2005, and “Hoppin’ Mad” in 2009. He also produces acrylic and oil works on canvas. His work has also appeared in National Geographic magazine; he has lectured on art and the creative process in colleges and schools, including Oxford Academy, and has been the artist in residence at Roberson Museum in Binghamton. He is a member of the Chenango County Council of the Arts and the Cooperstown Art Association.

“Michael’s paintings are modern and bold, with a vivid, graphic punch, perfect for today’s hi-def, richly-saturated-hues generation. His love of the enchanted beauty to be found in the hills, valleys, forests and streams around his Bainbridge home in Chenango County, provide him with constant inspiration,” the release said.

6 On The Square Inc., a not-for-profit, volunteer-based, community music and arts venue, is located at 6 LaFayette Park in downtown Oxford. For information, call 843-OTS6 (6876).
