Artwork featured at CWC
The artwork of Carol Hansen, who divides her time between Delaware County and Long Island, is on view through July 31 at the Catskill Watershed Corp. at 905 Main St. in Margaretville.
The CWC is open weekdays, except holidays, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Originals or giclee prints can be purchased, with half the proceeds going to Prattsville’s continuing recovery from Tropical Storm Irene in 2011.
The show features 11 paintings and drawings created over the past four decades.
Of special interest in the CWC exhibit is a nostalgic view from the window of Room 17 of Stamford’s historic Delaware Inn. Two pencil sketches show the artist’s progression to the final oil painting. The Inn was recently revitalized by the CWC and is for sale as a commercial property.
Other paintings depict the Rexmere Hotel, also in Stamford, overlooking a lawn full of happy long-ago revelers, and the Blenheim Bridge, lost to the flood of 2011. A large painting is a view of “Yonder,” Hansen’s family home in Harpersfield.
