---- — The Cooperstown Art Association will have an opening reception for two exhibits from 5 to 7 p.m. today, featuring music by the Stoddard Hollow String Band. Gallery A will showcase the 22nd annual “Made in New York: The Art of Wood” fine craft invitational show. “The Art of Wood” is devoted to creations made of local and exotic woods. Featuring work by 24 local and regional craftspeople, this year’s show features an array of functional and nonfunctional work including furniture, jewelry, lighting, vessels, musical instruments, turned and carved items and sculptures.
In Gallery B, Robert Glisson of Syracuse will exhibit his original oil and acrylic paintings that depict soft, atmospheric landscapes. As a landscape painter, Glisson tries to express a feeling or mood in nature. He paints in plein air and often finishes in the studio
Both exhibits will run through Sept. 20. The CAA Galleries are at 22 Main St. in Cooperstown in the village building on the corner of Main and Fair streets. Gallery Hours for Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular gallery hours are open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
