The West Kortright Centre in East Meredith will open its third and final exhibition of the 2013 Season, “Artists from the Longyear Gallery.” For this annual fundraising exhibit, the WKC will presenting artists from the Longyear Gallery in Margaretville, curated by its director, Gerda Van Leeuwen. The Longyear is an artist-run cooperative representing professional artists from the New York Metropolitan area, as well as upstate New York. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. today. The public is welcome to attend. The exhibit will run until Nov. 2.
This exhibition will showcase the work of 17 artists from the Gallery’s roster. Artists included are: Robert Axelrod, plein air painter, printmaker and painter; Janice DeMarino, hand-made paper artist, painter; Elaine Grandy, collage; Alix Hallman Travis, plein air painter, watercolor and oil; John Hopkins, painter; Gerda van Leeuwen, printmaker, painter ,and ceramics; David Leveson, photographer; Margaret Leveson, plein air painter, oils; Helane Levine Keating, photographer; Helene Manzo, printmaker, painter; Amy Masters, painter; Marilyn Silver, painter; Nat Thomas, painter; Corneel Verlaan, painter; Susan Whittenburgh, mixed media; Ellen Wong, painter; and Peter Yamaoka; ceramics. Verlaan’s solo exhibit in Longyear gallery will run through Sept. 16.
