The West Kortright Centre will sponsor a performance by Mary Gauthier at the B-Side Ballroom at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Gauthier first appeared on the WKC stage in 2005.
In a cracked and gruff Louisiana drawl, Mary Gauthier sings in a country blues style.
After performing at countless open mics and coffeehouses, Gauthier independently released her debut, “Dixie Kitchen,” in 1997, and was nominated for Best New Contemporary Folk Artist at the Boston Music Awards. “Drag Queens in Limousines” followed in 1999
She’s since released four more albums. Her songs have earned praise from Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, and been recorded by Jimmy Buffett, Blake Shelton, Boy George and many others.
She recorded her first life album, “Live at Blue Rock” at the Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio in Wimberley, Texas, outside of Austin. It was released on Feb. 5.
