At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 6 On The Square will welcome Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys to the stage.
Hailing from Michigan, Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys started the group as college students, but the full formulation of the present-day Flatbellys was completed in the summer of 2010. All the band’s members are singers as well as musicians. Lindsay Lou Rilko plays guitar and claw-hammer banjo; Joshua Rilko plays mandolin; Mark Lavengood, resophonic guitar (dobro); Spencer Cain, upright bass; and Keith Billik, banjo and guitar. Recently married, Lindsay Lou and Joshua now form the core of the band. The band focuses on the original tunes of Lindsay Lou’s which include true-life tales of bank-robbing aunties, moonshinin’ grandpas, and celebrations of love, life and nature. It gives a nod to American traditional music, while taking its songs in new directions, according to a media release.
Tickets are available at the discounted pre-show price of $20, plus a $2 service charge, or $25 at the door. Doors open one-hour before show time. For more information, call 843-OTS6 or visit www.6onthesquare.org .
