SOUTH NEW BERLIN _ State police at Norwich are investigating a reported armed robbery to the Quickway convenience store on state Route 8 in South New Berlin on Wednesday night.
A store clerk told police a white male approximately 5'9" to 5'10" tall and weighing 160 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, with a grey hooded sweatshirt, underneath a white and black checkered flannel jacket, displayed a long gun and demanded cash. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.
Chenango County emergency services received a 911 call at about 7:31 p.m.
Store manager Kim Voltz said Thursday the store had never been robbed before and the clerk who was working Wednesday night was very rattled by it.
“The young man that was on was pretty scared,” Voltz said.
She said the robber took cash from the store, but she wouldn’t say how much.
State police patrols were assisted by the town of New Berlin Police Department, along with the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation is continuing by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact state police at 561-7400.
