Kleniewski recommended as SUCO president

ONEONTA _ State University of New York Interim Chancellor Dr. John B. Clark today said he would recommend to the Board of Trustees that Dr. Nancy Kleniewski be the next president of the State University College at Oneonta.

Kleniewski is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bridgewater State College, and was one of four finalists for the position being vacated July 1 by Dr. Alan Donovan.

It is anticipated that the SUNY board will take up the chancellor’s recommendation during its June 17 meeting.

In addition to her experience at Bridgewater State, Kleniewski has held important academic and administrative positions at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and at SUNY Geneseo.

“Dr. Nancy Kleniewski has devoted her professional life to public higher education and has earned promotions of increasing responsibility at three different institutions,” Clark said.

“It is a great pleasure to recommend Nancy Kleniewski as the next President of SUNY Oneonta to the Board of Trustees,'' he added.

SUCO College Council Chairman Patrick Brown said council members were ``very excited that Clark has recommended Kleniewski to the SUNY Board of Trustees to be the next president of SUNY Oneonta.

``I want to commend the members of the Presidential Search Committee, especially Chairman David Brenner, for the outstanding work they did in recruiting Dr. Kleniewski,” he continued.

Clark said Presidential Search Committee and the College Council worked very hard and effectively and that he could not be more pleased with the results of their work.

Brenner said Kleniewski made a terrific impression on the committee and the committee was pleased that Clark shared its enthusiasm.

Kleniewski said she was honored by her support and thought SUCO was ``an exceptional college. I look forward to meeting with the SUNY Board of Trustees.”
