GREENE -- About 725 people attended a natural gas meeting Tuesday night in Greene, an event that was moved to the high school in anticipation of a large turnout.
Bradd Vickers, president of Chenango County Farm Bureau, said by phone just before 11:30 p.m. that nearly every seat was filled. He added that a productive meeting took place, and that those in attendance asked many good questions. Participants from the Department of Environmental Conservation had been expected to attend, but withdrew earlier Tuesday. Vickers said that contact numbers for the DEC were issued to those who attended, however.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Baron's Inn on state Route 12, which Vickers said has a capacity of about 300.
