Victims of ATV crash identified by police

One Otego man killed; woman badly injured

-- —

State police at Oneonta have released names of victims in an all-terrain vehicle crash that took the life of an Otego man Sunday.

Timothy D. Lewis, 42, was pronounced dead at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, where he had been taken after an ATV crash at 114 Stonybrook Road in the town of Otego in Otsego County at 12:08 a.m. Sunday, troopers said.

An investigation revealed that Lewis and Debra L. Chickerell, 49, both of Otego, were traveling on a dirt driveway operating a 2012 Polaris ATV. They lost control of the ATV, which overturned, troopers said in a media release. The release didn't report who was driving or if helmets were worn.

Lewis and Chickerell were ejected and struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle in the driveway, resulting in injuries, troopers said.

Chickerell was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown for treatment of a broken left arm, broken ribs and brain hemorrhage, troopers said.

The investigation continues.
