---- — Dani Nicosia scored with about 32 minutes left Saturday, leading the Section Four champion Oneonta High girls soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Cold Spring Harbor in a Class B state semifinal at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Shelby Cleaveland assisted Nicosia on the decisive goal, giving OHS (18-2-1) a chance to win its first state championship in girls soccer.
The Yellowjackets will play Section Five's Greece-Odyssey (17-3-1) for the state title at 10 a.m. Sunday at Cortland State. Greece-Odyssey knocked off Section Two champion Schalmont, 3-2, in the other Class B state semifinal Saturday at Cortland High.
Schalmont (20-1) beat G-O, 4-0, in the 2011 Class B state final and entered Saturday's final-four round tied with Oneonta for the top spot in the state rankings. G-O is ranked fifth.
Section Eight champion Cold Spring Harbor, which is ranked third in the state, finished its season at 15-4.
OHS last played for a state title in 2004, falling, 2-0, to Section Eight's Rockville Centre South Side in the Class A final. That season marked Jerry Mackey's first as Oneonta's head coach.
Oneonta High is seeking its second state championship in as many seasons. The Yellowjackets ended the 2012 spring season with their first state crown in baseball in June.
